[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: COUNCIL VICE CHAIR WALA BLEGAY, ESQ. HOSTS DISTRICT 6 PUBLIC SAFETY FORUM

State’s Attorney, Aisha N. Braveboy, Sheriff John D. Carr, and Deputy Chief of Police James McCreary – Featured Guests

Prince George’s County Council Vice Chair Wala Blegay, Esq. (District 6), will host a District 6 Public Safety Forum on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon at Bishop McNamara High School - Fine Arts Gymnasium, 6800 Marlboro Pike in Forestville. 

The District 6 Public Safety Forum will provide participants with recent crime and public safety updates directly impacting the District 6 community. Additionally, residents will hear from State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy;  Police Deputy Chief James McCreary; Sheriff John D. Carr; Office of Homeland Security Emergency Management, Deputy Director, Dr. Meloyde R. Batten-Mickens, CEM; Office of Community Relations Deputy Director, Courtney Mariette; and Maryland State Delegate Nick Charles (D-25). Forum participants will also have an opportunity to ask questions and have their community concerns addressed. The forum will be moderated by The Heights Church Senior Pastor, Dr. Bobby Manning.

Vice-Chair Blegay says the public safety forum presents an opportunity for dialogue, information sharing, and a comprehensive community conversation focused on public safety in District 6.

“It is important that we create a safe space for residents to express their public safety needs and concerns. The root causes of crime in our communities must be addressed, and we want the community to be a part of the conversation as we work towards effective solutions. Enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Prince George’s County is a Council priority – it is of major importance to me and my colleagues.  I am committed to doing my part to fulfill the promise of the ‘People’s Agenda,’ and creating opportunities for the public to engage on critical issues of concern as we move closer to our goal of creating sustainable communities for the future.”
