District 2 Council Member Wanika Fisher is set to host two events next week honoring veterans and seniors in her community.
The first event will be a Veterans Day celebration on Monday, November 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Rollingcrest Senior Commons (6060 Sargent Rd, Chillum, MD 20782). This event, co-sponsored by Council Member Fisher, will pay tribute to veterans by highlighting their contributions and dedication to our country. Council Member Fisher will extend special recognition to Mr. Jennifer, a distinguished veteran who served in multiple wars, acknowledging his exemplary service and dedication. Local leaders, residents, and members of the media are encouraged to attend and join in honoring the strength and commitment of our veterans.
The second event, set for Friday, November 15, is Council Member Fisher’s signature event, the 2nd Annual Senior Bling Appreciation Reception: Gatsby Glamour. This year’s reception will take place from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Rollingcrest-Chillum Community Center (6120 Sargent Rd, Chillum, MD 20782). It will feature a special guest, Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman, and will be hosted by Fox5 DC News Anchor Marissa Mitchell. The Senior Bling Appreciation Reception is a day dedicated to recognizing the invaluable contributions of District 2’s seniors. This year’s theme, Gatsby Glamour, encourages attendees to “Dress to Impress” and revel in an afternoon of music, catered food, and a chance to connect with county and community partners. A prize for “Best Dressed” will also be awarded, adding a fun twist to the festivities. Council Member Fisher looks forward to honoring the wisdom and legacy of District 2’s senior community with this elegant celebration.
