Council Leadership & Sen. Washington Introduce New PGCPS Integrity and Compliance Officer

Council Chair Jolene Ivey and Vice Chair Sydney Harrison will hold a press conference on Monday, September 16th at noon to introduce Frank Turner II, the new Integrity and Compliance Officer for Prince George’s County Public Schools.

Mr. Turner leads the PGCPS Office of Integrity and Compliance (OIC). His role is similar to that of an inspector general for the school district, investigating waste, fraud and abuse, and maintaining authority to issue subpoenas. Turner’s office will be made up of a small team of investigators and financial analysts who will examine, report, and propose ways to improve compliance with all laws, policies, and procedures within the school system. Turner spent 26 years working on criminal investigations for the IRS, and more recently was a contracted program manager over forensic accountants in FBI headquarters.

The OIC was created by SB-0191, sponsored by Prince George’s County Sen. Alonzo Washington and supported by the Council. Sen. Washington will speak about his legislation and what inspired it.
