Access to quality health care, health promotion and disease prevention are priority concerns for the Prince George’s County Council and the residents we represent.
The Prince George’s County Council, which sits as the County’s Board of Health, joins County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III, in thanking the Maryland General Assembly for passage of the Prince George’s County Regional Medical Center Act of 2016.
We especially recognize the steady and strong leadership of Maryland Senate President Thomas V. “Mike” Miller and House Speaker Michael E. Busch, and the support of this legislation in both houses of the Maryland General Assembly.
This legislative action solidifies a commitment to the critical funding necessary for Prince George’s County and the State of Maryland to maintain our joint commitment to address the healthcare needs of our residents. Further, it enables the transition from the Dimensions Healthcare System to the University of Maryland Medical System, and the construction of the new $650 million Regional Medical Center in Largo.
We appreciate the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders in the healthcare of our residents, and we urge Governor Hogan to sign the Prince George’s County Regional Medical Center Act of 2016.
