The Prince George’s County Council today received the Fiscal Year 2017 Proposed Operating Budget and Proposed Capital Budget and Program from County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III.
As we focus on the County’s fiscal future, the Council appreciates the vital partnership of County Executive Baker and the dedication and effort of the Executive Branch in formulating this proposed spending plan.
The County Charter requires Council adoption of a balanced budget on or before June 1. As the County’s Fiscal Authority, our role in the budget process is outlined in the Charter, and is one of our most important legislative responsibilities.
Over the next few months, the Council will work with our staff and through our committees, to engage in a careful and purposeful review of the FY 2017 budget proposal. The involvement of our residents is critical to the success of this process. Residents are encouraged to actively participate in County Council Public Hearings on the proposed FY 2017 Budget.
All Council budget public hearings are held in the Council Hearing Room, First Floor, County Administration Building, 14741 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, in Upper Marlboro. Meeting schedules are subject to change. For updates, please click HERE.
