[ARCHIVED] CHAIR DERRICK L. DAVIS ISSUES STATEMENT ON RETIREMENT OF SENATOR BARBARA MIKULSKI

The Prince George’s County Council respectfully salutes Senator Barbara Mikulski upon her retirement. While we will miss her tireless advocacy for working people and civil rights in her work on Capitol Hill, this Council is proud to celebrate Senator Mikulski’s remarkable servant leadership and indelible legacy. Blazing trails and shattering glass ceilings, Senator Mikulski is the longest-serving woman in the history of the United States Congress, and the only woman to have chaired the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee. For decades, the Dean of the Senate has been a strong fighter, working hard to serve the people of our great state of Maryland and our nation. We deeply appreciate Senator Mikulski’s partnership with this Council to keep our County strong, especially her committed leadership on Capitol Hill to bring the FBI headquarters to Prince George's County. Senator Mikulski’s retirement is well-earned, and with grateful hearts, the members of this Council wish her all the best.
