Event to Focus on Health-Related Budget Priorities
Council Member Wala Blegay (District 6) will host a Virtual Healthcare Budget Townhall on April 24, 2024, at 6:00 PM. The event will focus on the County's healthcare policies, resource allocations, and critical health challenges facing residents.
The Virtual Town Hall will feature Health, Human Services, and Education Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Sanmi Areola, Ph.D., who will be joined by subject-matter experts and several community stakeholders. The virtual event aims to shed light on the healthcare priorities outlined in the County’s Proposed FY 2025 Budget.
"In light of the healthcare challenges we've faced, particularly those resulting from the pandemic, we must prioritize healthcare in our budget," emphasized Council Member Blegay. "With the highest emergency room wait times in the state of Maryland and a critical need for primary care physicians and accessible healthcare clinics, we must act decisively to safeguard the lives of our residents."
The solutions-driven virtual town hall is a public event. County residents, healthcare providers, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and engage in meaningful conversations about healthcare challenges and initiatives in the County.
