The Prince George’s County Council will hold a second Committee of the Whole (COW) briefing concerning the status of the Head Start program and student safety, on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Council Hearing Room, First Floor, County Administration Building, 14741 Governor Oden Bowie Drive in Upper Marlboro. The initial COW briefing was held on September 19, 2016.
Prince George’s County Schools CEO Dr. Kevin Maxwell; Board of Education Chair Dr. Segun Eubanks; Board of Education Vice-Chair Carolyn Boston; and Board of Education Member Curtis Valentine will be among those briefing the County Council.
Council Chair Derrick L. Davis (D) – District 6, says the follow-up briefing is an opportunity to hear from school leaders on a number of concerns that were raised during the first COW meeting, and address recent developments regarding student safety.
“With this follow-up briefing on the status of Head Start and student safety issues, the Council continues to exercise its oversight responsibilities. We look forward to an update from school officials, as we focus on next steps, including achieving a management structure and set of values that require full accountability.”
