District 4 ‘Pick It UP!’ Anti-Litter and Beautification Initiative Kick-Off Event – Community Clean Up Day Saturday, September 30th

Bowie, Glenn Dale, and Lanham Residents ‘Pick It UP!’ – Residents Encouraged to Volunteer

Prince George’s County Council Member Ingrid Watson (District 4) will launch the inaugural District 4 “Pick It UP!” Anti-Litter and Beautification Initiative on Saturday, September 30th with a simultaneous Community Clean-Up Day in the Bowie, Glenn Dale, and Lanham communities from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon.

The Pick It UP! Initiative and accompanying anti-litter campaign encourages clean, litter-free District 4 communities; raises awareness around the harmful impacts of litter and illegal dumping; promote community involvement; and encourages civic pride through ongoing clean-up drives and prevention education efforts.

Council Member Watson invites every District 4 resident to join in and ‘Pick It UP!”

“Volunteers of all ages and in every District 4 community can share in the excitement and benefit of the Pick It UP! Initiative.  Each small effort will have a huge impact on our local environment -something our residents agree is paramount – maintaining property values, protecting wildlife and natural spaces, beautifying our neighborhoods, raising awareness around plastic pollution, and promoting our community bonds. We want to keep our communities clean.  I am proud to say that this effort kicks off with a clean-up but Pick It UP! will be an ongoing effort that will continue to bring awareness to our litter problem.”

Residents may volunteer during the kick-off event at one of three Pick It UP! Locations:

*Bowie - Mitchellville Road (Fred Robinson Way to Mount Oak Road)

 – Meet at 9:00 am at Bowie Town Center in the former Sears building parking lot (across from Best Buy)

Lanham – Presley Manor Park, 7171 Presley Road, Lanham, MD 20706

Glenn Dale - Glenn Dale Commons, 7626 Buzz Aldrin Lane, Glenn Dale, MD 20706

  • Council Member Watson will be participating at each of the three locations.

District 4 residents are also invited to take the Pick It UP! Pledge and commit to cleaner, greener communities.  To sign the District 4 Pick It UP! Campaign Pledge, click HERE.
