DISTRICT 2 COUNCIL MEMBER WANIKA FISHER AND THE TOWN OF NORTH BRENTWOOD PRESENT BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION
Event Spotlights Prince George’s County’s First African American Settlement – North Brentwood
Prince George’s County Council Member Wanika Fisher (District 2), and the Town of North Brentwood, will host a Black History Month Celebration event on Saturday, February 25, 2023, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the North Brentwood Community Center, 4012 Webster Street in North Brentwood.
The Black History Celebration event will feature a performance by singer, songwriter, advocate and educator Alison Carney, also known as Ace Ono. “The Life and Legacy of Harriet Tubman,” a one-woman show about the life, struggles and triumphs of the former slave and abolitionist, will be presented by Cortenia Smith.
Council Member Fisher encourages residents to attend and celebrate the fullness of Black History and culture in Prince George’s County and North Brentwood.
“The opportunity to host a Black History Celebration with the Town of North Brentwood is exciting because it presents an important opportunity for residents to learn more about the town’s rich history and the contributions of its earliest settlers. Additionally, we will have performances from some of our County’s most notable creatives. It promises to be an inspiring afternoon and I encourage District 2 residents to join us.”
This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact (301) 952-4436 or e-mail, Councildistrict2@co.pg.md.us.
