County Council, Board of Health and Committee of the Whole to Convene September 29th for Scheduled Virtual Sessions and Briefings

 


Council to Review Legislation and Hold Public Hearing; Board of Health Receives RAND Study Briefing; Committee of the Whole to Review Several Measures

 

The Prince George’s County Council, the Council sitting as the Board of Health, and the Council’s Committee of the Whole (COW) will convene virtually on Tuesday, September 29th.  

 

Council session is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. with the presentation and introduction of several measures.  The Council will also hold a public hearing for CR-097-2020, legislation concerning the State of Maryland Community Development Block Grant Program.  

 

The County Council, sitting as the Board of Health, will convene virtually at 11:00 a.m. for a briefing on the RAND Corporation report “Assessing Health and Human Services Needs to Support an Integrated Health in All Policies Plan for Prince George's County, Maryland,” a comprehensive study commissioned by the Council as it considers future policy and funding decisions related to the health and wellbeing of residents and communities.  

Following the Board of Health session, the Council’s Committee of the Whole will convene at 1:00 p.m. for a briefing on the Local Impact Grant Funds Multi-Year Plan, and consideration of two Council Bills and one Council Resolution, including CB-050-2020, legislation requiring annual allocation of certain funds to support defense, cybersecurity, health, legal, enforcement, music and arts education programs at Oxon Hill High School, Friendly High School and Potomac High School; and CB-58-2020, legislation establishing an incentive program to encourage employers to hire Prince George's county residents who are returning from incarceration.
