[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL ANNOUNCES FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GRANT FUNDING FOR LOCAL NONPROFITS

$500,000 Grant Program Seeks Community Solutions for Ending Domestic Violence in Prince George’s County; Applications Accepted September 2 – October 1; Pre-Proposal Conference September 8

The Prince George’s County Council continues its commitment to heighten awareness, strengthen the County’s safety net, and enhance the effectiveness of nonprofit partners with its appropriation of $500,000 in the FY 2021 approved County Budget to support domestic violence programs in Prince George’s County for the fifth consecutive year.

The FY 2021 Prince George’s County Council Grant Program provides funding support to programs that serve the housing, workforce development, mental health counseling or legal advocacy needs of County residents who are survivors of domestic violence.

“Domestic violence is still a pervasive issue in our communities that will require a heightened level of attention and engagement, especially as COVID-19 drives more of our residents indoors and out of regular sight,” said Council Chair Todd M. Turner (D) – District 4. “Eradicating domestic violence will continue to require a collaborative effort between nonprofits, public safety officials, residents and County Government. This funding reaffirms the Council’s ongoing commitment to address the issue and support victims.”

Prince George’s County Council staff will host a virtual Pre-Proposal Conference for the Prince George’s County Council Grant Program on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Interested nonprofit organizations may attend the conference to receive additional information about the Council’s Domestic Violence Grant Program and how to apply.

To register for the pre-proposal conference, e-mail PGCCOUNCILGRANTS@co.pg.md.us with the organization’s name and representative(s) attending, including job title, contact number and e-mail address. The deadline to register is Friday, September 4, 2020. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in the pre-proposal conference.
