COUNCIL VICE-CHAIR AND AT-LARGE COUNCIL MEMBER CALVIN S. HAWKINS, II, AND DISTRICT 9 COUNCIL MEMBER SYDNEY HARRISON HOST “WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?” VIRTUAL TOWN HALL EVENT

 Addressing the Social Determinants of Health


Prince George’s County Council Vice-Chair and At-Large Council Member Calvin S. Hawkins, II, and District 9 Council Member Sydney Harrison, will host a virtual Town Hall Event, “Where Do We Go from Here – Addressing the Social Determinants of Health” on Thursday, May 14, 2020, from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

The virtual Town Hall event, moderated by Prince George’s County Board of Health Advisor, Dr. Yolandra Hancock, will bring together Prince George’s County’s foremost health care authorities for a community discussion on the social determinants of health in the midst of COVID-19. Residents are encouraged to participate and lend their voices to the conversation on this critical issue.

Event panelists include University of Maryland School of Public Health Assistant Professor, Typhanye Vielka Dyer PhD, MPH; University of Maryland School of Public Health, Health Policy and Management Director, Professor Stephen B. Thomas, PhD; Joseph L. Wright, MD, MPH, FAAP, President & CEO (Acting), Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, University of Maryland Capital Region Health; Prince George’s County Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, George Askew, MD; Prince George’s County Board of Health Liaison, Terrence Fullum, MD, MBA; President and CEO, Interdynamics, Inc. Joan Branch; and RAND Corporation Vice President, Anita Chandra, DrPH.

Council Members Hawkins and Harrison, serve as Chair and Vice-Chair (respectively) of the Council’s Health, Human Services and Public Safety committee.
