Prince George’s County Council Vice Chair Wala Blegay Issues Statement on Freeway Airport Court Decision 

“I am disappointed in the recent decision from the Supreme Court of Maryland that upheld CB-17-2019, which was passed by certain members of the prior Council to allow for high-density development of townhomes at Freeway Airport.  As I have previously stated, CB-17-2019 runs counter to the low-density single-family residential neighborhood surrounding Freeway Airport.  Prior to the recent decision from the Court, the People’s Council passed CB-17-2023 and CB-50-2023, which prohibits development under CB-17-2019.  In essence, the Court made a decision on a piece of legislation that is no longer in effect.  I will continue to put forth legislation that will promote smart-growth and deliver high-quality development to District 6.”
