[ARCHIVED] TONIGHT: DISTRICT 7 COUNCIL MEMBER KRYSTAL ORIADHA TO HOST ‘DISTRICT 7 STATE OF THE SCHOOLS’ EVENT

Community Conversation to Focus on School Safety, Student Performance, and After-School Programs – Residents Encouraged to Attend

Prince George’s County Council Member Krystal Oriadha (District 7) will host a “District 7 State of the Schools” event on Wednesday, May 31, 6:00 p.m., at Suitland Elementary School, 4650 Towne Park Road, in Suitland-Silver Hill.

The State of the Schools event will feature a comprehensive community conversation focusing on school safety, student performance, programming, extra-curricular activities, and after-school programs. Featured guests include District 6 Board of Education Member Brandon Jackson, and Prince George’s County Police Assistant Operations Commander Bureau of Patrol Captain Kyle Benson. Participants will have an opportunity to share their concerns with Council Member Oriadha, Board Member Jackson, and Captain Benson, who will respond to questions and provide updates and information.

Council Member Oriadha says the “District 7 State of Schools” event is an important opportunity for a community conversation about our schools – what we are doing well, where we are challenged, and ways to work collaboratively towards improvement and growth.

“Ensuring our students feel safe and supported is an utmost priority.  I am committed to working with parents, teachers, resource officers, and all interested stakeholders to ensure we provide our students with the tools for success. I look forward to enriching discussions concerning the state of our schools and how we might work collaboratively towards the shared goal of improving our school system.”
