PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY COUNCIL MEMBERS AMONG MARYLAND LEADERS ‘TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS’ AT MACo SUMMER CONFERENCE 2022

Maryland Association of Counties Summer Conference – August 17-20, 2022

Prince George’s County Council Members will join other elected officials and representatives of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City, in Ocean City, Maryland this week for the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conference. .

The 2022 MACo Conference theme, “Taking Care of Business,” will explore resources available for recovering and struggling businesses, creative ways to achieve common goals, and partnerships available to take Maryland’s communities from “surviving” to “thriving.” Conference workshops and seminars will address key areas including technology trends, risk management, cyber security, capital improvement planning and communications.

“The Council recognizes the importance of sharing best practices and working collaboratively with other leaders from across the state,” said Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II.  “MACo provides an important opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and better serve our residents.”

“MACo’s Summer Conference is my favorite event every year,” said MACo President and Talbot County Council Member Laura Everngam-Price. “It brings together the best of the best from around our state to work on learning from the past year and planning for the year ahead. This strengthens our relationships locally and with state leaders, enabling us to collectively solve problems facing Marylanders every day.”

Prince George’s County Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, and Council Members Mel Franklin, Todd M. Turner, Jolene Ivey, Rodney Streeter, and Sydney Harrison will join approximately 3,000+ representatives from county and state government, commercial companies across Maryland—as well as representatives from seven different states and the District—during MACo’s Summer Conference. Attendees will discover best practices, learn about county solutions, and explore potential partnerships through three general sessions, more than 30 educational sessions, a 300-booth tradeshow, a 60-booth technology expo, and several networking events.

MACo is a non-profit and non-partisan organization serving Maryland county governments by articulating the needs and ideas of local governments to the Maryland General Assembly.   MACo’s members determine Association policy and positions on executive and legislative proposals through an elected Board of Directors and a Legislative Committee.  Through MACo’s advocacy, training, education programs, and annual conferences, members are provided with endless opportunities to improve their capacity to serve their residents.  More information and Conference Program updates are provided at www.mdcounties.org.
