[ARCHIVED] COUNCIL TO HOST VIRTUAL DISCUSSION ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY

Guest Speaker – The Honorable Lisa A. Hall Johnson, District Court of Maryland Domestic Violence Coordinating Judge; Service Providers Invited and Encouraged to Join the Discussion 

The Prince George’s County Council will host a virtual discussion on the issue of Domestic Violence in Prince George’s County, Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.  Service providers, and those impacted by domestic violence are encouraged to participate in the virtual discussion focusing on Domestic Violence.   

Since its inception, the County Council’s Domestic Violence Grant Program has awarded over $2.5 million to local nonprofits in support of domestic violence programs and survivors. Program funds are available to nonprofit organizations through a review and evaluation process for all applicants.  FY 2023 grant funding opportunities will be announced in August.  

Council Chair Calvin S. Hawkins, II, said domestic violence has no place in Prince George’s County, and looks forward to the community conversation. 

“Over the last six years, the Council has invested $2.5 million in grant funding to our nonprofit partners to combat domestic violence in our communities. The Council’s Domestic Violence Grant Program, supporting the needs of impacted residents, focuses on strengthening the capacities of nonprofit service providers, through funding resources, training, and collaboration. Our partnerships support families and save lives. We are excited about this informational event and look forward to hearing from our featured speaker, The Honorable Lisa A. Hall Johnson.”
