[ARCHIVED] PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY COUNCIL APPLAUDS SUPPLIER DIVERSITY MENTORSHIP AWARD RECIPIENTS

Prince George’s County Minority Business Enterprises Receive National Recognition

The Prince George’s County Council applauds Prince George’s County Minority Business Enterprises (MBE’s) Metro Laundry, Frequency Enterprises, Stillwater Septic Service, Lord & Mitchell, and Corporate Cleaning Solutions, for their recognition during the MGM Resorts International Supplier Diversity Mentorship Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 28, 2022.

The Prince George’s County honorees were five of 23 MBE’s nationwide, participating in a six-month exercise consisting of extensive training in marketing, customer services, accounting, procurement policies and procedures.  Each of the businesses is currently providing services for MGM National Harbor.

County Council Chair, Calvin S. Hawkins, II, says the recognition Prince George’s County MBE’s received during the awards ceremony, and their successful completion of the program, is proof positive that our local businesses are ready to meet and exceed expectations.

“Local, small, women and minority -owned businesses are the job generators and innovators in Prince George’s County, and it is important for these entrepreneurs to have the tools required to succeed and share in our County’s business growth and prosperity.   I congratulate each of the honorees on   successful completion of the mentorship program and look forward to  continued success in the years ahead for our local businesses and local economy.”

During the awards ceremony, MGM Resorts-International reiterated their commitment to diversity and inclusion, enabling positive economic impact in communities around the world. In 2000, MGM Resorts International became the first gaming company to voluntarily declare a formal diversity initiative as a matter of integrity and as a business imperative.

MGM Resorts International is an American global hospital and entertainment company operating destination resorts across the country, including Prince George’s County.   Prince George’s County Council MBE Compliance Manager, Mirinda Jackson, was present during the ceremony to support Prince George’s County’s Minority Business Enterprises honorees.
