What is the Holistic and Sustainable Solutions for Senior Citizens Task Force?

The Holistic and Sustainable Solutions for Senior Citizens Task Force was formed as a means for addressing, assessing and identifying the challenges and fundamental needs of the senior citizen population in Prince George’s County. The Task Force will facilitate the development and implementation of holistic solutions that will enhance their quality of life and promote their overall well-being, comprehensively, addressing the diverse needs of senior citizens, including but not limited to senior tax credits, access to affordable and equitable healthcare, food insecurity, housing, transportation, social services, asset planning, fraud prevention education and recreational opportunities. 

What is the legislative history behind the Holistic and Sustainable Solutions for Senior Citizens Task Force ?

The Holistic and Sustainable Solutions for Senior Citizens Task Force was established under CR-053-2024 to address the challenges faced by senior citizens, facilitating the development and implementation of holistic solutions that will enhance their quality of life and promote their overall well-being.

Workgroup Membership

The Holistic and Sustainable Solutions for Senior Citizens Task Force shall consist of eleven (11) members, representing various sectors and interests, including but not limited to:

(1) A representative from the Prince George’s County Association of Realtors;

(2) A representative from the Maryland State Department of Assessment and Taxation;

(3) A representative from the AARP Suitland Chapter #939;

(4) A representative from the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission;

(5) The Director of Finance or the Director’s representative;

(6) The Director of Social Services or the Director’s representative;

(7) The Director of Family Services or the Director’s representative;

(8) The County Auditor or the County Auditor’s representative; and

(9) Three (3) senior citizens who reside in Prince George’s County and represent the Northern, Central and Southern geographic areas of the County, respectively. 

(10) The Chair of the County Council shall appoint one senior representative to serve as Chair.
