Agricultural Resources Advisory Committee
The Agricultural Resources Advisory Committee (ARAC) is organized exclusively to serve as a link between the farming community and local government, in pursuit of agricultural activities in the County.
The Committee was defined in CB-07-2012, a County Council act that revised the composition of the Committee and provided for the powers, duties, composition, term, officers, meetings, and annual report of the ARAC.
The specific powers and duties of this Committee are:
Serve as the central point of information for the farming community regarding governmental programs affecting agricultural, forestry, and land use operations;
- Advise County government regarding the effect on agricultural operations of existing laws, policies, rules, and regulations;
- Advise County government regarding the effect on agricultural operations of potential laws, policies, rules, and regulations;
- Work to establish better communication and understanding between the agricultural industry and the community at large;
- Advise the County government on the implementation of state and local initiatives pertaining to development such as, but not limited to, rural legacy, nutrient management, and smart growth programs; and
- Advise the County government on programs and initiatives to support agricultural economic development
