The Prince George’s County Council welcomes the appointment announced by County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, of Dr. Juanita Miller as Chair of the Prince George’s County Board of Education, upon the recent resignation of former Board Chair Dr. Alvin Thornton.
The Honorable Juanita Miller served as Delegate to the Maryland General Assembly where she represented the 25th Legislative District of Prince George’s County, and she has served in several leadership positions in Prince George’s County. Retired as an Administrator from both Prince George’s County Public Schools and prior to that from the District of Columbia Public Schools, Dr. Miller has a wealth of experience in governmental organization that will benefit Board of Education leadership and collaboration.
We also commend the County Executive’s appointment of new Board of Education Vice-Chair, Sonya Williams, who currently serves as a Board Member.
The Council remains committed to working with the Board of Education and all stakeholders to provide a quality education for our children, and secure vital state funding for County schools.
