[ARCHIVED] CHAIR DAVIS EXPRESSES COUNCIL’S CONDOLENCES UPON THE PASSING OF THE REV. DR. JAMES L. WALLS, JR.

The Prince George’s County Council, joins fellow public servants and community members, as we extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family and loved ones of the Honorable James L. Walls, Jr., Mayor of the City of District Heights, upon news today of his sudden passing.

We also offer our thoughts and prayers to the entire District Heights community, which Council Member Karen R. Toles (D) – District 7 and I share the privilege of representing. Mayor Walls was reelected to serve a third term as Mayor in 2014, and was the youngest person in the history of the City of District Heights to win the post.

The Rev. Dr. James L. Walls, Jr., also served the community as Minister of International and Community Affairs at the Forestville New Redeemer Baptist Church.

The passing of the Rev. Dr. James L. Walls, Jr., which saddens the Council and our community, is cause for reflection on his season of service, and his devotion to the residents of the City of District Heights and Prince George’s County.
