[ARCHIVED] CHAIRMAN DERRICK L. DAVIS ISSUES STATEMENT ON FALLEN AND INJURED FIREFIGHTERS

The Prince George's County Council offers our sincere condolences to the wife and family of 37-year-old career Firefighter/Paramedic John Ulmschneider. The life of Firefighter/Paramedic Ulmschneider, a 13-year veteran of the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department, was tragically taken in the line of duty on Friday evening.
We also extend our deepest sympathy to our public safety community, sadly in mourning yet again.
The Council continues to pray for the recovery of Volunteer Firefighter Kevin Swain. A member of the Morningside VFD, Station 827, Firefighter Swain is reported in stable condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, following surgery from wounds sustained while serving on the same call.

Every day our public safety officials risk their lives to protect and care for us. This is another truly sad day for our community.
