STATEMENT FROM COUNCIL CHAIR TODD TURNER – COUNCIL REMEMBERS VICTIMS ON ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF CAPITAL GAZETTE MASS SHOOTING IN ANNAPOLIS 

The Prince George’s County
Council, on this solemn anniversary of the mass shooting in the newsroom of theCapital Gazette, remembers the victims who lost their lives during that tragic
event.   Journalists and newsroom staff play a critical role in ourcommunities as they work to tell our stories.  Gerald Fischman, Rob
Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith and Wendi Winters were part of ourcommunity and will not be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them,
and the colleagues, families, friends and loved ones most directly affected bythis tragedy.
