With food insecurity rising in Prince George’s County due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, mass federal layoffs, and economic inflation, District 4 Council Member Ingrid S. Watson is partnering with local nonprofits and faith-based organizations across her district to provide free food to Prince Georgians throughout November.
The four food giveaways will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15, Thursday, Nov. 20, Friday, Nov. 21, and Sunday, Nov. 23.
Council Member Watson is grateful to all the community partners helping to make these free food distributions possible: Reid Temple A.M.E. Church, Queen Jefferson Women's Missionary Society Ministry, the Greenbelt Community Center, Fountain Community Enrichment, Inc., Interfaith Coalition of Bowie, and the Bowie Community Center.
“This is such a critical time, especially with some losing their SNAP benefits and others going without a paycheck,” said Council Member Watson. “Many of our friends and neighbors are struggling, through no fault of their own, just to put food on the table for their families. We’re doing everything we can to make their lives easier during this incredibly stressful time.”
