Council to Hold Virtual Briefing on Data Center Task Force Final Report

Tomorrow, on Tuesday, January 27, the Prince George’s County Council will hold a virtual briefing to discuss the final report and recommendations from the county’s Qualified Data Center Task Force. The briefing is scheduled for 2:00 PM during tomorrow’s virtual Council meeting, which gets underway at 10:30 AM. Prior registration to join the virtual meeting is available here.

The task force was formed in April 2025 and has been working diligently to weigh the costs and benefits of allowing data centers in the county. Anthony Jones, Co-Chair of the Qualified Data Center Task Force; Darryl Barnes, Chairman of the Prince George’s County Planning Board; James Hunt, Acting Planning Director for the Prince George’s County Planning Department; and representatives from global architecture, design, and planning firm Gensler will be among the presenters who will lay out the task force’s findings and recommendations. 

The Council, through the adoption of CR-98-2025, enacted a six month pause on the approval of data center projects in September 2025 to allow for the task force to complete this comprehensive report, which aims to shaping the future of possible data center development in the county.
