With the goal of fostering a safer, more unified, connected, and engaged community, Council Members Calvin Hawkins (At-Large), Jolene Ivey (At-Large), and Sydney Harrison (District 9) are teaming up with Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy, State’s Attorney Tara Jackson, and 4Ever Unified, Inc., a non-profit that promotes camaraderie between law enforcement and the citizens they serve, to host a Community Walk on Thursday, September 11 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
They will be joined by Police Chief George Nader, Assistant Police Chief George Nichols, Fire Chief Meme Michaelides, and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Melvin Powell. Residents are invited to connect directly with county leadership, share concerns, ask questions, and walk side-by-side in a united effort to build stronger, safer neighborhoods.
This walk comes at a crucial time, following the murder of 19-year-old county resident Dacara Thompson. County leaders hope to answer questions, quell fear, and promote unity throughout the county at Thursday’s event.
The walk will begin at 5:00 PM at the Division 5 Police Station, 6707 Groveton Drive, Clinton, MD 20735, and will last approximately 45 minutes, followed by remarks from elected officials and public safety leadership.
