Board to Receive Briefing from Hospital Executives on Emergency Room Wait Times
The Prince George’s County Council will convene as the Board of Health on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. in the Council Hearing Room, First Floor, Wayne K. Curry Administration Building, 1301 McCormick Drive, in Largo.
The Council has received many complaints from citizens about unreasonably long emergency room wait times and is seeking additional information from the community and county health leaders. “The Council is making an effort to collaborate with our healthcare providers to explore resolutions to address quality healthcare for residents,” says Vice Chair Blegay.
The Board of Health will receive an Emergency Room Wait Times Briefing from hospital executives in the County, to include a discussion about the triage process and flow of care in the County’s emergency departments. Presenters include Board of Health Consultant, Dr. Lakisa Blocker; Adventist Healthcare Fort Washington Medical Center President, Eunmee Shim; Luminis Health Doctors Community Health Center President and Chief Quality and Population Health Officer, Deneen Richmond; MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center and Senior Vice President MedStar Health, Dr. Stephen T. Michaels, MD; and University of Maryland Capital Region Health Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tom-Meka Archinard, MD.
While the meeting is Monday, Vice Chair Wala Blegay is available for interviews this week (starting Thursday) to discuss this important issue impacting residents.
