Council Meeting Status
The County Council continues to operate remotely pursuant to the current County government operating status and under CR-10-2020. All timelines and/or deadlines associated with ongoing cases for the District Council, Zoning Hearing Examiner and Board of Appeals have been tolled for a period of sixty (60) days as of March 17, 2020, or until such time as the statewide state of emergency is lifted. In an abundance of caution given the current state of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) In an abundance of caution given the current state of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and under the Governor’s “Proclamation and Declaration of State of Emergency and Existence of Catastrophic Health Emergency – COVID-19”, effective March 5, 2020, and the Prince George’s County State of Emergency Declaration, effective March 16, 2020, as well as guidance from the Office of the County Executive, dated March 13, 2020 and updated on April 13, 2020, including the closing of County buildings to the public; and in consultation with the County Department of Health, the County Council is operating under the following emergency procedures. UPDATE: COUNTY COUNCIL TO CONVENE VIRTUAL SESSION MARCH 31st
The Prince George’s County Council, aided by the use of technology, and in alignment with social distancing guidelines provided by the State of Maryland, will convene virtually on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., for a scheduled Council session. All scheduled public meetings of the Prince George’s County Council, the County Council sitting as the District Council, Zoning Hearing Examiner, Board of Appeals or the County Council’s Standing Committees, including Council Task Forces and Work Groups, are hereby postponed pursuant to CR-10-2020 until at least March 27, 2020. The County Council continues to operate remotely pursuant to the current County government operating status and under CR-10-2020 and will provide additional public notice of all future meetings.
All timelines and/or deadlines associated with ongoing cases for the District Council, Zoning Hearing Examiner and Board of Appeals are hereby tolled for a period of sixty (60) days or until such time as the statewide state of emergency is lifted and in light of the current County government operating status.

The Hogan Administration’s COVID-19 A-to-Z Resource Guide
On March 30, 2020, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has put the state under a stay-at-home directive as coronavirus cases surpass 1,400.
The stay-at-home order will go into effect at 8 p.m. Monday, the governor said. The order is set to remain in effect until the state of emergency is over. Violations can be punished with a misdemeanor charge.
"We are no longer asking or suggesting that Marylanders stay home. We are directing them to do so," Hogan said.

On March 25, 2020, Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Salmon announced that the closure of all public schools in Maryland will be extended for an additional four weeks through April 24, 2020. At this time, it is too early to definitively say when schools will reopen, but state officials will continue to reassess the situation throughout the coming weeks.

On March 23rd, Governor Hogan put into place more measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While he did not issue a shelter in place order, he is asking people to stay home. Effective March 23 at 5:00 PM, all non-essential businesses have been ordered to close. Essential businesses that will remain open include grocery stores, healthcare facilities, utility companies, gas stations, and law enforcement agencies.
